At the beginning of 2022, we fully launched the new local Destination Management Organisation (DMO) activities.

In this way, we want to support the development of tourism, taking into account the interests of all parties involved - visitors, citizens and local governments, service providers, associations and nature conservationists.

Main objectives:

  • A platform for discussion between the public and private sectors
  • Redistribution of visitors within individual sites in the region and across seasons and times of day
  • Extension of the average visitor stay
  • Digitalisation of public administration, better access to visitor statistics, facilitation of administration and communication between accommodation providers and municipalities
  • An increase in the collection of the local tourist tax and a system of funding for the destination community, which directly invests part of the tourist tax in the marketing and management of the region
  • Communicating the needs and problems of the region, both at national and at regional levels

How are we going
to meet the objectives:

Guest Card

The tourist card in electronic and physical form. It provides benefits to visitors staying in the region. At the same time, it will greatly simplify paperwork related to guest registration and collection of accommodation fees for accommodation providers and municipalities.

The card is FREE for visitors and accommodation providers. The only condition is to report the guest to the tourist tax registry.

Benefits for accommodation
and service providers

  • Simplified paperwork – reporting to the Foreign Police, Statistical Office and the local Tourist Tax Registry in one single electronic form
  • Connection to the largest hotel software, so you don’t have to fill in anything twice
  • The DMO funding system directly invests a portion of the fee in the promotion of tourism in the region
  • E-shop with a booking system also available for small associations and enthusiasts, who thus gain the opportunity to get into the online environment without much effort and cost
  • Efficient collection of anonymous tourist data that we all can use for marketing purposes
  • A Pre-Check-in function where guests fill in their details before arrival
  • Reading ID cards by a webcam instead of manually entering all the data

municipalities:

  • The system motivates accommodation providers to pay the accommodation tax
  • Simplified paperwork
  • Efficient collection of data on visitors staying in the municipality
  • Associated Citizen Card with benefits for local citizens with permanent residence in the region

Information website

An integral part of the Guest Card project is the creation of a new web portal that will serve as a single source of information for visitors and accommodation providers.

  • Clearly-arranged information on all activities and attractions, divided according to target groups, interests, time of the year and length of stay
  • Specific programme suggestions for one or more days
  • An overview of available services such as accommodation, rentals or cable cars
  • An overview of events in the region
  • Content links to the websites of neighbouring regions

Benefits for accommodation
and service providers

  • Significantly better comfort for accommodation providers and reception staff when communicating information about the region
  • Easy findability on the web with the possibility to link to your website presentation or booking

Benefits for
municipalities:

  • Ability to easily communicate to visitors not only your attractions and local service providers but also public events or practical information, for example, on transport
  • It makes the work of Information Centre staff easier

By the way, do you know that Muttich’s silent signs were the inspiration for the logo and visual identity of our destination? The visual presentation of the region is thus intertwined with its history.
